The Parent Portal will provide easy access for you to view progress and report card grades, lunch account balances, student schedules, absence and tardy information and discipline incidents. Access will be available to you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Upon completion of the registration process, you may use the Parent Portal to communicate with your student’s teachers by simply clicking on a link. If desired, you may request that the teacher email your student’s daily and major grades during the reporting period. Register today by going to the Fortbend ISD website and click on the link for Parent Portal or click on this link now: https://parentportal.I could not be happier. I've had the absolute worst time with the high school for five years now getting even the most basic information from their website. I'm talking about not even having Parent Open House information on their website, much less access to grades. I resorted to creating a google spreadsheet last year for teachers to update grades weekly (to protect the privacy of one of my precious children, I'll avoid all discussion of why that was necessary. Ugh.)fortbendisd.com/
I just added my daughter to my Parent Portal account and there are her progress report grades, her lunch balance - $21 - and all sorts of helpful school announcements about upcoming activities.
I have to hope this is just a first step and that coming next will be teacher websites that are: 1) actually utilized by the teachers and 2) have helpful information like a course syllabus and a calendar of assignments and major grades.

I wish that I could access my daughter's records, but there is some mistake and this is the third day that I have tried and they have told me to wait till 8 a.m. the next day to try again.
I'm actually glad to hear that someone is on and using it...gives me hope!!!
It is a wonderful idea however is not compatible with Safari so Mac users are out of luck. You can get in and see grades but you can't click anywhere else. That means you can't email teachers through the portal. My children's teachers were told to only email grades to parents when requested through the portal. It would also be nice if they would post the grades as they are earned (daily, tests, quizzes, etc) It should not be any more work for the teachers as they need to put the grades in the computer anyway.
I am in complete agreement about the posting of daily grades. That's really what I'm missing is that frequent understanding of my child's grades - as well as assignments, test dates, etc! Thanks for commenting.
What ever happened to privacy? Shouldn't students' grades be kept amongst the teacher and the student? This is outrageous. It does not create an independent environment for the student. Once he or she leaves high school, there will not be a parent monitoring every single grade he or she receives. The child has to learn that grades are important by him/herself.
With this new system, students will be working for their grades because of their parents, not for themselves.
Bad idea. No teacher/student confidentiality.
