Annise Parker 53%

I see some amazing silliness over a Fox26 online poll with a certain campaign claiming they won tonight's Fox26 mayoral debate, because more of their supporters went online after the debate and answered the "who do you think won tonight's debate" question. Let's be clear. An online poll is not scientifically valid. Or, wait. No, let me declare that the state of the race is this:
Parker 53%
Brown 29%
Locke 14%
Morales 1%
Yeah. Because that's what my online poll to the right shows. I had a poll up for 10 days and those were the results. I'm positive this is real. Heck, let's do some fuzzy math and declare these will be the final vote percentages on Election Night. Put out a press release, somebody! Let's all go on Twitter and Facebook and spread the news.
While we are at it, let's go read some Chronicle articles about the mayoral race and believe that all of the comments are from unbiased voters, not campaign staff and hyper campaign volunteers.
On a couple of other notes:
I had the same reaction Kuff had to Brown's latest campaign ad - the correct word is "differently", not "different". It's made worse by Brown emphasizing that word when he speaks. Otherwise, it's smart of Brown to emphasize his business experience. Brown is way ahead of the other mayoral candidates in introducing himself to voters, getting his name ID up and being specific about his plans and strengths - both on TV and via mail.
I wish Fox26 had a video archive of tonight's debate online. I see in the their recap, Locke acted confused about the budget shortfall again, making an issue out of a non-issue. If you are going to go negative, you need to be truthful about it. Otherwise, it's slimy politics and it's a good indication that dissembling will be the order of the day when you are mayor.
I'm very curious which of the municipal candidates are doing a good job on the ground and on the phone, doing GOTV or even ID's or persuasion. I'm hearing some things that make me wonder. Now's the time, since voting begins in six days. Headquarters should be busy from 9 AM to 9 PM at this point, with lots of volunteers doing voter contact. Are y'all seeing that?
