Houston Campaign Videos - Stephen Costello for At-Large 1

Candidates for Municipal Office in the City of Houston - If you have created a campaign video - whether it's going on TV or not - send me a link and I'll post it here on my blog (email me at museblogger@gmail.com). I got info this morning about Stephen Costello's video -he's running for At-Large, Position 1 - and I think it is terrific. It's personal, so you get to know the candidate a little bit, and it's positive. The "running" connection between his marathon activities and his running for office works for me. He's very clear at the end why he's running and what he wants to do for Houston as a City Council member. Watch it here, and then tell me what you think in the comments!

Steve Castello- a Republican in name only.(RINO) As 3rd generation Texan and a life long Republican- I find it hard to support this guy b/c of his stance on social issues. I don't trust him and that makes it very hard for me to support him.

I want to know what he is going to do to lower my taxes and improve my quality of life- not just his Montrose neighbors and buddies....thats all I have heard him talk about.

Debbie,

Stephen Costello is running as an independent in this non-partisan election. He has paid staffers from both sides of the aisle, and is moderate on social issues and fiscally conservative.

As for quality of life issues -- Steve is the only candidate in this seven-way race with any professional experience in flooding and drainage. He's been an engineer for the past 30 years, originally coming to Houston decades ago to work as a civilian in the Army Corps of Engineers.

Steve's company, Costello, Inc., was voted in three consecutive Houston Business Journal surveys as one of the best places to work in Houston. Costello, Inc. provides 100% healthcare coverage for its employees and covers about 90% of the health care costs for the families of employees.

Steve has also served on the Memorial Park Conservancy for the past 13 years, including four years as chairman. While there, he oversaw efforts to reduce crime in the park and build pedestrian bridges.

Our City Council currently has no practicing engineers. Stephen Costello is the only candidate in this race with the business, non-profit and technical experience to be able to handle the city's quality of life challenges from his first day in office.

You are free to call me at the office at 713-505-1564 if you have additional questions, or if you'd like to speak to Steve personally.

Sincerely yours,
David Rosen
