My Obama T-Shirt, My Obama Money, My Obama Sticker

In a stunning admission to a friend, I revealed that I am the owner of an Obama t-shirt and an Obama sticker, which is on my laptop right now, along with a Hillary sticker. What I forgot to mention is that Obama got 200 bucks from me last fall. That's when I was seriously looking at all three of our top candidates - Hillary, Obama and Edwards.

There was a time when I would have been happy with any of the three. I'm VERY used to not getting engaged in backing a presidential candidate until the nominee has been determined. The politics of presidential nominee selection has always taken place in far off lands like Iowa and New Hampshire. I'm one of those that gets engaged 100% once our nominee is chosen, no matter their faults. It's all about our D nominee for me. This is code for "I was not a Deaniac."

When it became apparent this year that there would be a longer road to the nomination, I took the plunge and chose who I think will be the best person to lead our country. I've written on this before (my Hillary endorsement post here). I truly believe Hillary's experience, intelligence, knowledge of the issues, solutions and tenacity makes her the best choice. I'm absolutely, 100% sure about that.

Like a lot of supporters on either side, I've become more and more steadfast about my choice. A lot of this has been colored by my increasingly dissatisfaction with the way Obama handles himself in the debates, on the campaign trail and with Hillary. Unity? Yes, we can? (who is the we, because it doesn't feel like I'm included in that) A new type of politics? Change? (from what?) The buzzwords and pretty phrases fall flatter and flatter as people realize that Obama is really not doing anything right now to pull Democrats together. His supporters do an even worse job of convincing Hillary folks that Obama is the answer to anything. There is a do anything, say anything to win mindset. Really, if the Obama supporters want to characterize Hillary in the same way, they only need to look at Obama's words and actions (well documented here) to see they are describing their candidate, also.

So, onward with supporting Hillary. And, the Obama t-shirt stays in the closet for now. The Obama sticker - eh, it shows I'm a Democrat in name and actions. We gotta get it together and be ready to beat McCain. That's always been the bottom line for me - all Democrats, all the time - and that is not going to change.
