¿Quién es más macho? LTC Rick Noriega or Quick Draw McCraw?
Governor For A Day, president pro tempore of the Senate, Mario Gallegos, got to make ceremonial appointments today. He appointed State Representative Rick Noriega, Homeland Security Director.
What a fantastically, amusing jab at Steve McCraw, Rick "Governor For Way Too Many Days" Perry's Homeland Security Director.
I hope yall have been following the whole swiftboating thing that has been going on that has made Ollie North impersonator McCraw look ridiculous. He wrote a whiny letter to Noriega on Governor 39%'s stationery basically accusing him of being soft on terrorism. This to a man who served as the Laredo Border Sector Commander in Operation Jump Start and in Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.
Amazingly, Gov. Perry's spokesmodel, Robert Black piled on with the following:
"It's important for Representative Noriega to have a full understanding of what the Governor's Office of Homeland Security entails," Black said. "It's not just about border security, but emergency management in the event of a disaster, drug interdiction and coordinating efforts to keep our citizens safe."
As if that is not exactly the type of activities Noriega supervised while serving on the Border.
Noriega is correct that there is too much at stake here with border security to politicize it and have Homeland Security under the Governor's control.
The other big stakes thing that is going on here is Noriega's potential U.S. Senate run against Cornyn. Obviously this strikes fear in the hearts of R's or why else would they be throwing small size popcorn at him?
