Shelley Sekula Gibbs Launches Filegate Investigation
And, we are only at day four of the lame duck session. She's abandoned her plans to "solve the Iraq war" and the illegal immigration crisis. Instead she's working hard for the citizens of TX-22 to solve a problem of her own making, and is launching an investigation into the files that were perhaps deleted by the staff that walked out on her when she threw a hissy fit just 24 hours into her "tenure" as our congresswoman for the winter season.
The Houston Chronicle has this to say:
The aides' departure left her Wednesday with a Washington staff of two former Houston City Council aides, an intern on loan from Rep. Michael Burgess, R-Flower Mound, and a congressional aide.
It was unclear what Sekula-Gibbs could accomplish without an experienced congressional staff. House officials have asked her and all other lawmakers whose terms are expiring to vacate their office space by Dec. 1, she said. Afterward, she said, she will have an unspecified work space with a computer and a telephone.
I have a suggestion. Can she do this out of her bedroom in Clear Lake?
And this:
Her chief of staff and former council aide, Lisa Dimond, who has worked with the interim congresswoman for more than two years, said her boss is wonderful to work for.
"She is a doctor and she has wonderful people skills," Dimond said of the dermatologist.
I'm sorry, but Shelly is just not known for her people skills.
Thank you Rick Perry for this complete waste of time, space, activity, money and everything else that goes along with this pink implosion. Without the sudden need for a special election, we could have cruised to January when our real Congressman, Nick Lampson took over for us.

What an odd, odd story to end the strangest campaign in living memory. I now have half a mind to unearth an even stranger set of circumstances to the one that we have here.
Circumstances that landed a congressperson in office with such a strange skillset and personality that it defies description.
Awhile ago you mentioned a person that you knew who knew her personally, and who was in absolute terror of Shelley gaining power. "You've got to stop her" is the quote I remember. Now we get to see it all played out, knowing that none of it counts as she has been completely marginalized (or should I say marginalized herself), and will eventually have to work out of her hotel room.
This is starting to hurt. I almost can't watch.
My memory is sort of faint on this, but wasn't the good doctor known while on Council, for her - shall we say, lack of familiarity with exactly what it was city government actually did and how it did it? I seem to recall that she even missed her first vote on approving the city budget. Now it seems she has gone and had what was described as a screaming, body-shaking, full melt-down fit in front of a lot of people in her office. Oh dear. I am definitely glad she is a Republican. Let them defend her.
