AG Greg Abbott's Staff Accused Of Being Peeping Toms

Yesterday, I shared with you that Charlie "2nd most conservative member of the Texas State House" Howard wants to "enhance citizen status verification when registering to vote." That's code for "let's intimidate the hell out of minorities so they WON'T register to vote". Today brings more of the same, but this time from Attorney General Greg Abbott (shout out to my friend who alerted me about the running joke pertaining to Abbott always going by his full title - say it with me, kids, "Attorney General Greg Abbott!").

The Houston Chronicle has a story about Abbott and the use of a voting law to scare minorities.

Here's the peeping Tom incident:

Gloria Meeks of Fort Worth, also 69, said she stepped out of her morning bath last month and screamed. Two voter fraud investigators from Attorney General Greg Abbott's office were peeking in her bathroom window.

They were trying to nail her on a 2003 law that makes it a crime to deliver someone else's absentee ballot to election officials or put it in the mail. The law was created to keep political operatives from stealing votes by preying on the elderly and infirm.

A suit has been filed arguing that the law infringes on voting rights. It will argue "that Abbott is selectively enforcing the law against Hispanics and blacks to intimidate minority voters and dilute their strength at the polls."

No. Really? Abbott is protecting the vote by going after hardened criminals:

Yet, of the 13 individuals indicted on charges of voter fraud by Abbott, 10 are accused of simply possessing another's absentee ballot for delivery to election officials or to a mailbox, Democrats say. Such activities had been legal until the 2003 law turned them into crimes.
-----
Democrats also complain that of the 13 individuals indicted by Abbott for voter fraud, 12 are minority women while one is a white male. Moreover, Abbott's voter fraud indictments include no Republicans.

My overall reaction to this is that the Republicans know that the voters have just about "Had Enough" and they are about to get their butts kicked out of Austin. So what to do? Take potential Democratic voters out of the voting pool. Sneak up to their bathroom windows and see them naked if you have to, in order to scare them out of voting.

You sooo rock! Yes, Attorney General Greg Abbott is not a big fan of black OR brown people. I don't think Attorney General Greg Abbott is a big fan of anyone because I think Attorney General Greg Abbott is a misanthropic jerk.
