Exposing the Lies in Wallace's Radio Ad
David Wallace has a negative radio ad out about Nick Lampson. You can listen to it here. It's actually sort of entertaining. The music is very scary and dark during the lies about Lampson and then the birds practically start singing when the info about Wallace starts up (or as a friend of mine said, it's sort of like the hymn "Up From the Grave He Arose!").
Someone's got to refute the lies he spews out about Lampson and I'm happy to be that person. Lampson’s strong independent voting record easily disputes Wallace’s dishonest ad.
“This radio ad goes to show that Wallace has learned well from his mentor Tom DeLay. He has proven to be every bit as dishonest as Tom DeLay; he’s just not as good at it,” Lampson campaign manager Mike Malaise said.
Here we go (quotes are from the radio ad, followed by the facts):
"When Liberal Democrat Nick Lampson was in congress he voted for taxpayer funded abortions"
Congressman Lampson supports upholding Roe v. Wade. But Wallace's assertion is completely false. He did vote against using federal funds for abortions. He voted for 1997’s Hyde Amendment, which prohibits states from using federal funds for abortions (HR 2264).
"Against cutting taxes"
He supports tax cuts for middle class families and small businesses owners who are struggling with sky-rocketing health care costs and gas prices. Furthermore, Lampson consistently voted against previous raises in our debt limit—while Wallace’s mentor Tom DeLay voted for the increase in the debt limit (S. 2986 and S. 2578). In 2004, Lampson supported the “Blue Dog Budget”, which sought to cut the deficit by half and balance the budget by 2012, and establish Pay as You Go Rules to curb additional spending.
"Against securing our borders"
Lampson has always been a strong supporter of efforts to tighten security at our borders, voting for increased funding in 2004 (HR 685). He has advocated increasing border guards and technology along our border, along with enforcing laws against hiring illegal immigrants.
In 2005, Wallace’s mentor DeLay voted against an amendment to HR 4437 providing for 12,000 additional Border Patrol agents, 8,000 additional Immigration and Customs Enforcement inspectors, 4,000 additional port inspectors, 1,000 additional U.S. Marshals, 1,000 additional detention officers, and 300 additional immigration judges.
There you have it. Some have wondered if Wallace actually paid for these ads or did he get the stations to take some of his "commitments", the $800,000 in Chuck E. Cheese tokens.
Bay Area Houston has more, as does Juanita.

Bwaaaaaa hahahahaha. Chuckie Cheese tokens! Oh my, that's Fort Bend political lore material. That wins best line in this whole thing.
I am curious. Is what Wallace doing legal? He is not a candidate, yet he is running political ads against a candidate.
Is this legal?
Everybody in town knows that Davey has more ethical problems than Tom DeLay. He's a slick one, that Davey.
Sugar Babe,
Tell me more! He does look slick.
Even a Republican on Fort Bend Now said he was "slick as snot". I'd like for him to be The Chosen One so that we can see him try and explain his way out of all of his past and current problems.
At Fort Bend Now, we are trying to decide what to call him. Someone suggested Slick Wally. Sugar Babe, you got this started over there, also!
