Blogging the Texas Democratic Convention - General Wesley Clark

Theme of the convention - Moving Texas Forward!

Our party is so forward thinking that we have a table on the front row of the convention for bloggers!

Wesley Clark is being introduced. The gist of the introduction? We'd be a different country, a better country, if General Clark had been elected President.

Clark introduced to wild cheering. Mentions Texas hero Democrats - LBJ, Sam Rayburn, Bentsen. References to Sam Houston, the Alamo, Travis, Bowie and Crockett. Our Democratic Vets in the audience are asked to stand. A standing round of applause for our troops overseas. (Ooops, muse is on the big screen. Camera guy did a scan of the blogger area.)

Our nation has a history of being great and being respected. Names the great Democratic American Presidents. Clinton gets the biggest round of applause. Bush is brought up. Boos!!!

(again, muse on the big screen three more times - thankfully, I am not having a bad hair day.)

Bush's mistakes have cost lives. "We went to war in Iraq to cover up the command negligence for 9-11."

"I've been to war. I don't believe in it. You don't do it unless there is absolutely, absolutely, absolutely no alternative."

"How about some leadership from Washington in diplomacy?" (General Clark, are you running in '08?). "Why can't we lead instead of just bullying? I guess because they are Republicans and it is not in their nature."

All of this gets tons of applause.

Hitting on education, especially that No Child Left Behind is not funded. Moving on to healthcare. Ahh, he knows about our CHIPS problem!!

Talks about the inventiveness of America. Oooh, go get 'em!! He is on the Bush adminstration for their destructive, iditotic anti-science policies.

"Enough is enough and 2006 is the year!" Crowd chants, "enough is enough!"

Republican party plays on fears. They are about dividing America. (yes, they are!)

"We believe in equal opportunity for every single American." "We believe every American has a voice. That's what we stand for."

Instead of building fences, we need to build bridges across different nations. (applause! applause!)

He's supporting our candidates - Chris Bell and Barbara Radnofsky. "This is a fight for America's future."

(muse on the big screen more than Wesley Clark)

Slams on do-nothing, cover-up Congress. Standing ovation!!

The choices we are making in the election of 2006 are not local, they are national. We have to elect the right men and women to office and it starts here in Texas.

(Wesley Clark is extremely handsome. That has to be said. OK, I'm over being distracted by that . . .)

Asks the audience to get on their feet. Enough is enough! Hopes President Bush hears us, the ones who know him better than any others!

(muse is getting used to rock star status on the big screen. yawn.)

You were having a great hair day.

How dare you upstage Wes! I mean, he's a sharp looking dude, but c'mon, most of us are used to bloggers who look like Chuck Kuffner...

Hey, now, I resemble that remark. And for the record, I was having a good hair day, too. So there. :-P
