Nick Lampson Spends His Entire Campaign Running On Issues
Note to Harris County GOP precinct chairs: We've read your questionnaire and it's only served to fire us up because we clearly don't want anyone representing district 22 in Congress who seriously thinks your entire list of issues are the ones that are vital to the health and properity of our area. Personally, I am stepping up my volunteer efforts and my monetary donations to the Lampson campaign in reaction to reading that document, so thanks for the motivation.
Of particular offense was this remark from Harris County Republican Chair Jared Woodfill from your Saturday get together with the GOP hopefuls to fill DeLay's spot on the ballot in November:
"Nick Lampson is a whole lot of talk and not a lot of action. He has spent his entire campaign running against (DeLay) and not for any issue."
Really? I guess that's all you can say when:
a. you don't have a candidate, so all you can think to do is resort to lies about your opponent
b. you know your eventual candidate will be lame (see: Sekula-Rodriguez, Wallace, Jackson, Talton, Howard, Meyers, et.al)
Just to clue Mr. Woodfill in, any neophyte Lampson volunteer can tell you the issues that Lampson is running on:
1. security
2. fiscal responsibility
3. education
4. health care
All of this is wrapped in a message of bringing integrity back to Washington.
These are the four issues Lampson has been running on from day 1. I've personally block walked for Lampson and even prior to DeLay's "resignation" (he hasn't resigned), we never talked about DeLay to voters at their doors. We always talked about Lampson and his issues. But, geez, were we ever bombarded with voters wanting to talk with us about DeLay. But, not just DeLay, they were always very specific about the corruption in Washington. It's not just DeLay, folks. TX-22 voters are sick of the huge lack of integrity in Washington.
Action? You want to know about Nick Lampson and action? Here are a few fun facts to get you started regarding Lampson's prior leadership in Congress:
In 2002 the Houston Chronicle reported that Lampson took on more cases for his constituents than any other Member of Congress from Southeast Texas
In 2001 Lampson brought home more resources for his district than any other member of the Texas delegation
Nick founded the Congressional Caucus on Missing and Exploited Children, which worked to create the national Amber Alert program. In time, this caucus became the largest bi-partisan caucus on Capitol Hill having almost equal numbers of Republicans and Democrats.
He was the ranking member on the Space and Aeronautics Subcommittee and fought hard for resources for NASA.
Yes, I'm a bit peeved with the whining and carping from the folks whose candidate cut and run from the legitimate voting process in TX-22. Six months from yesterday. November 7th, 2006. That's the day when the voters in our district will finally have the chance to shut down the games, end the noise and put Nick Lampson in Congress.
